Do More with Microsoft Forms

October 07, 2020

Microsoft 365 has millions of users globally. From powering email, to driving productivity and connecting colleagues, businesses the world over rely on the software. Microsoft 365 users gain access to a number of great tools, including Microsoft Forms.

Office 365 changed its names to Microsoft 365 in April this year. There is no doubting the value of Microsofts premium productivity suite. A subscription includes familiar applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. But these are just the apps most are familiar with and Microsoft is always developing its cloud-based service.

Amongst the other apps is Microsoft Teams a chat-based workspace that integrates people, content and tools. There’s also Power BI Pro for analytics, Flow for managing notifications and To-Do a simple daily planner and task list. That’s to name only a few, and there are more than you may realise.

Another really useful app to take a look at is Microsoft Forms.

Microsoft Forms Makes Data Collection Easier

Microsoft Forms helps you create surveys, generate quizzes, conduct polls and capture data.

Microsoft Forms helps you create surveys, generate quizzes, conduct polls and capture data.

Forms makes it really simple to create new forms. You just select ‘New Form’ or ‘New Quiz’, input the details, add images if you want them, and you’re ready to go. You can use drag and drop to choose different question types such as multiple choice, text, rating or date options.

Pick graphics or different colours to personalise your surveys, or use a ready-made theme. As you’d expect from Microsoft you can easily collaborate with colleagues on the survey design. And you can test and preview your survey before you go live with it.

It is so easy. In a just a few clicks you can:

  • collect input from your employees;
  • measure client or customer satisfaction;
  • send out quick polls to your staff, such as finding out how they feel about returning to the office;
  • set a quiz for an employee who is carrying out some training to check their knowledge before and after the session.

Microsoft Forms provides you with a link that you can put in an email, post out on your social media channels or put on your website. You can even generate a QR code for mobile users.

Get Results with Microsoft Forms

You’ve shared your survey and the responses are coming in thick and fast, but how to make sense of all that new data? Fortunately, there is a dashboard for that! You can track how many responses you are getting, and even look at how long it takes people to complete your form. Then you can drill down into the data for a particular question.

You can easily display your results or graphs which you can add to a PowerPoint presentation.

Microsoft Forms allows you to display your results in graphs.

And, because Forms is part of the Microsoft 365 suite it integrates with Excel too. You can import your data and leverage the full power of Excels analytics.

If you are looking for something even more advanced, then consider Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Voice. Formerly known as Forms Pro, this application gathers real-time customer feedback.

Of course, there are plenty of alternative survey tools available. You’ll have heard of SurveyMonkey, and you may also be aware of TypeForm or SoGoSurvey. However, you may find that the free versions have limitations. You may have a limited number of questions, or you might only be allowed a small number of respondents.

With Forms you get a fully formed product as part of your subscription. And it integrates with your other software. Forms is simple to use, with a familiar interface. It makes it easy to keep in touch with both employees and customers and quickly find out how they are feeling.
