Your IT Department are delighted to announce our first foray into sports sponsorship!

Management has decided that our team of geeks need some fresh air and to maybe watch something other than Game of Thrones so with the football season upon us we’ve decided to get involved with one of our local teams.

League 2 Mansfield Town, under Manager Steve Evans, are one of the favourites for promotion this season and we’ve shown our support by sponsoring winger, Alfie Potter.

    Mansfield Town winger Alfie Potter

28-year-old Potter joined The Stags in January 2017 from Northampton Town, where he made 26 appearances and was part of the league winning 2015/16 squad. Following his move Alfie made 14 appearances scoring his first goal for the club in a 1-1 draw with Luton Town on 17th April 2017.

Potter lists Peterborough United, AFC Wimbledon and Oxford amongst his former clubs and whilst with Havant and Waterlooville, Potter scored the second goal as they gave Liverpool a scare in the FA Cup in 2008, before eventually losing 5-2. Potter was then named as the Player of the Round for his performance at Anfield.

So far this season Alfie was an unused substitute in the opening day 2-2 draw with Crewe Alexandra and came on as a substitute in the 1-0 Carabao Cup defeat to League One Rochdale.

Following a summer of investment Mansfield are 9/2 second favourites to win League Two and joint favourites for promotion at 6/4 with Luton Town.

Marketing Manager Craig Pearson, an Arsenal fan, has always considered Mansfield a ‘second’ team. ‘When I was a youngster I was coached by a player from Leicester City called Steve Wilkinson, Steve became someone whose career I followed and his most successful spell was at Mansfield where he scored 83 league goals in 232 league appearances including all 5 against Birmingham in a 5-2 win in 1990. I’ve always looked out for Mansfield’s results since then so I’m delighted we’ve got involved with the club.’

We’ll be keeping an eye on the clubs scores and Alfie’s progress throughout the season and keeping you all posted.
