Very Telling: A Luxury Fashion Brand Switches from Samsung to iPhone for Higher Security
Technology & Software
‘Furia’, luxury Italian fashion brand, has switched over from Samsung Android to Apple iPhone. COO of Furia, Alberto Camelengo, said in an interview that it was because the iPhone’s have a “much higher” degree of security. Android users, is this making you think about how much protection you have inside your Smartphone?
Camelengo also said their migration to iPhone’s is also because it’ll be the same operating system as the iPad’s that they’ll soon have in Furia’s shops across the world. “Soon we’ll be providing all the stores with an iPad in order to not only collect information but also to provide information to the customer. Our networking is starting to be designed in this way.”
Returning back to the security side, and the main reason, “we’ve just moved from Samsung to Apple for the phone and a lot of the applications are designed in iOS.” He continued, “we would like to marry up the Apple systems because it’s much, much better for a company like us. We use a lot of data exchange, so from a security point of view that’s much higher. ”
“And from a customer image it’s much higher, because it’s very fashionable.”
Despite this, the CIO of Combat Stress, Richard Burley, thinks different. He told an interviewer, “at the enterprise level, I’ve been unable to make a business case for Apple when you consider the flexibility and the functionality of the Android platform, along with the price of the Android handsets.”
Google is also eager to push its Android operating system for enterprise use. Last month they launched Android for Work, and are ignoring claims that Apple have higher security. There are also some firms that are preferring to go with Android simply for their lower cost.
What are your experiences with security in both of these devices? And just in general?! Let us know.
