Say Hi to G.O.T. Geek Josh!

Our series of posts introducing the Your IT Team continues with our Senior Technician (and part-time Your IT model), Josh Stevenson.

What’s your role at Your IT?

I am one of the Senior Technicians here at Your IT Department. We act as a point of escalation for the rest of the support team, allowing them to focus on the main brunt of support cases whilst we primarily deal with the issues that require a more complex in depth investigation. It is very challenging at times but also very rewarding. The team here is absolutely fantastic and is by far the most friendly and cooperative group of people I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

Tell us a bit about your background:

I grew up surrounded by technology and have been extremely interested in it for my entire life. At the age of 17 I took a year course in IT Hardware and Software support at the Zenos IT Academy in Derby, gaining the CompTIA A+ and MCDST accreditations, and then my first full time IT Support position as a Junior IT Support technician at the age of 18. From there I have absorbed as much information about as many different technologies as possible, progressing through a few more IT positions before I finally found a Home in Your IT Department!

What are the plans for the future?

My wife recently gave birth to our first child (a boy!), so my main focus is now to remain in a secure position where I am happy and to look after my family. This company provides exactly that, being a bunch of family oriented guys themselves, they are extremely supportive and excited about our new addition!

I feel as though I have struck gold in finding and being accepted into this amazing company, and I am planning to stay here now, Forever! (Yes, sorry Simon and Lee!)

Away from work what do you like to do to relax?

I am quite into my gaming, and was brought up on the Commodore 64, Sega Megadrive and the SNES! I like to keep up to date on the latest games whenever I can and try to keep my Rig at home up to spec!

I play a little bit of guitar every now and then and like dabbling in DIY around the house, but my favourite thing to do is to get set up with loads of snacks and drinks, get comfy on the sofa with my wife (and now little dude!) and completely binge watch an entire series. Game of Thrones was our most recent marathon, absolutely loved it! HODOR

Now for the quick fire questions………..

Age: 25

What’s the best part of your job? Working with a cracking bunch of people

What’s your idea of a perfect night out? A few nice craft ales and some good friends

Which historical figure would you like to go drinking with? Alan Rickman

What’s your most embarrassing moment? Having my trousers rip straight down the middle from front to back whilst at work, then having to walk home through the city centre of Derby, in the most humongous downpour I had ever seen, with no umbrella, and my bright blue pants on show.

What would be your superpower? Being able to teleport would be quite handy.

How many sandwiches have you eaten off the floor? I am glad to say, none. Pizza, on the other hand…

What’s the last thing you watched on TV and why did you choose to watch it?
Planet Earth 2, I could listen to David Attenborough talk about a wall of drying paint and still find him interesting

How many days have you gone without showering? I don’t know if I need to be honest or funny here…

Finally, and this one is important, so please pay attention. What do you think cats dream about? I can’t say for all cats on the planet, but, I can say for certain from watching her that my cat dreams about eating.
