He does a lot of great work for charridy….

Many of you will be familiar with our Account Manager, Angus Unwin-Rose.

Angus is going to be taking part in the Leicester Big 10k on the 30th April 2017. The Big 10k is approaching its 7th Anniversary and takes place in the stunning surroundings of Leicesters Abbey Park.

He will be running to raise money for the Meningitis Research Foundation a charity that funds research and raises awareness with the aim of creating a world free from meningitis. The charity is close to Angus’s heart – he takes up the story: ‘When I was 6, I was taken to hospital with what my family thought was a bad flu, it turned out it was Meningitis, I was rushed to intensive care and was given an experimental drug. I was very lucky to be given this drug as, after 2 weeks in intensive care, I was fortunate to make a full recovery.’

Others aren’t as lucky; whilst cases of Bacterial Meningitis have halved in the past 25 years there are still over 3,000 cases on average every year. Anyone can get the disease, with teenagers and young children most at risk. Unfortunately 1 in 10 suffers will die.

So far Angus has raised 62% of his target of £750, however Your IT Directors Lee and Simon have decided to give his total a boost by donating £100 to the cause. Lee said ‘We are proud to be helping Angus to support a charity that means a lot to him for obvious reasons. He’s certainly putting a lot of effort into his training and we are confident he’ll perform well on the day’.

Angus would still like to raise some more funds so if you’d like to support him please visit his Just Giving Page – https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/MRF10kleicesterau-r
